💀 Character Information
Name: Abaddon
Canon: Darksiders
Canon Point: post-game, after death
Age: old as balls (eons at least, according to the novel)
Description: Abaddon is tall, broad-shouldered, and very heavily built with the black wings of a fallen angel. He's also got an eyepatch over his right eye. Generally human-looking though. He's basically your boring fallen angel type being, except huge.
Physical changes: He's not twelve feet tall anymore. That would make playing him slightly more awkward.
Powers: The most obvious one is that Abaddon has a dragon form-- not that big, just about the size of a small house (about Skyrim-sized)-- and can still speak in this form. And breathe fire, like many dragon-shaped creatures.
The more obvious abilities are things that come with being an eons-old angel, like flight (as long as he has wings!), immense skill and supernatural strength, and the ability to summon his ridiculously long sword from nowhere, though he'll probably need a new one now, and may have to make sure he can actually carry it with him.
Besides that he's got your typical final boss powers, stuff like magical ability to slash from a distance, telekinetically throwing large objects, short distance teleportation and the Demonic Overlord Aura™ where he can spread his influence over an area and summon demons, etc. I can't imagine he'd be able to keep that last one though.
Apparently as an angel his armor was really, really good, and as a demon the only thing in his canon strong enough to hurt him is the Armageddon Blade, but hey! He's not in his canon anymore.
History: Here!
Hell Status: Hell Newbie
What Brings Them To Hell: He deliberately started the apocalypse and as a result accidentally destroyed the Earth. Then he became a demon and terrorized that same Earth as the leader of the demonic army for a hundred years, until humanity went extinct.
The Pitch:At the moment Abaddon has basically no redeeming qualities except the fact that he isn't cruel for cruelty's sake—everything he's done has been for a reason, even if it's as flimsy a reason as “keeping up the impression of a good world-conquering demonic lord so I still have allies and don't have to deal with the consequences of my terrible choices.”
“Keeping up the impression” isn't quite the right phrase—that implies his heart isn't in it, which it is. Even as an angel he's always been searching for ways to destroy his enemies with extreme prejudice, whoever they may be. He also feels abandoned by the Creator he and the other angels have worshiped for eons, and is clearly bitter that choosing duty over all else has forced him to choose between betrayal and eternal suffering in Hell/Oblivion.
He used to be a pretty upstanding guy: he led the Hellguard to Earth during the Endwar. His goal was to pin the Endwar on the demons anyway: when the demons barged in guns blazing instead of gathering to declare battle rights, he could still have accomplished his plan and the only difference would have been that a lot of humans would have died. Instead he led his soldiers to Earth to fight them when he could have gotten off scot-free.
He seems to believe he's a victim of circumstance, and now desires power and glory even more than previously because he believes that's all he has left to hope for. He no longer has Uriel, he can't fight on the side of ~justice~ because that would require facing the consequences of his decisions, and he can't fight demons even without Heaven's help because that leaves him with no allies. He decides to ally himself with the demons and goes the whole nine yards, literally throwing Uriel away and spending a hundred years hunting down the soldiers who are stated to have practically worshiped him.
Also, in the novel Azrael says that Abaddon might just be hardcore enough to take out his own eye permanently in pursuit of a goal, but would never do anything to harm those he leads. Obviously the second part isn't true anymore, but it does still say a lot about the sort of person Abaddon is.
So basically he's a hardcore, surprisingly emotional demonic overlord with a grudge against the Powers That Be, but not so much of an asshole that he can't make friends once removed from the threat of the Charred Council's punishment. He's also clearly unhappy about his situation (being evil), despite the fact that he... makes no effort not to be evil and still has feelings for Uriel, so he can be a Sad Demonic Overlord too.
Setting Fit: The first thing Abaddon will do is get his wings back (and decide whether or not to fix his convenient chest cavity). His short-term goal will be to move out of the Hive, and his slightly longer-term goal will be to become a Hell Marshal after his stint as a Reaper. That would feed his old violent habits and make him feel important, which is something I assume he's gotten used to after eons of being "the greatest warrior Heaven ever produced." After that, he'll have to find something to do with himself for the rest of eternity...
His canon's Heaven has a set of Only Certain Emotions laws to it, so he'll have to adjust to the idea of being allowed to have feelings and form strong bonds with whoever he wants. (Although, it's worth noting that there are about two angels in canon that aren't both constantly upset about something and constantly yelling about it...) Given what Hell is like in his canon he'll actually be pleasantly surprised that the only truly painful thing is his sudden lack of status and reputation.
